"Performing live is for sellouts." -Sammy Tiger

(BOISE, ID) (August 4, 2001) The highly-influential, critically acclaimed band TVH has officially called it quits. The band's guitarist Samuel Tiger cited "artistic differences" as the reason for the breakup. TVH was formed in the summer of 1997 by Samuel "Sammy" Tiger and Johnny England in Boise, Idaho in America's northwest. Although they never made any live appearances, TVH was widely acclaimed as Boise's premier underground power electronics group.

What follows is an interview with Sammy Tiger conducted by SAVAGE BLISS magazine, in the Summer 2001 issue.

SB- First off, why is TVH breaking up?

ST- Well, I guess the main reason is because of artistic differences. That, and the fact that Johnny England spends most of his time on the east coast.

SB- What are the differences in your approaches to the music?

ST- I've always been more partial to the noisier stuff, and Johnny liked to take things in a more rythmic, tribal direction. I think that both styles have thier merits and can be blended quite well at times, but when we were performing I thought that the stuff should be more hard-edged.

SB- Johnny liked a "trippier" sound?

ST- Exactly. Probably would have preffered to go "unplugged" and do acoustic hippy-crap if he could.

SB- Out of your two releases, "Genital Hopscotch" has a more tribal sound. Did Johhny add more input to that one?

ST- As a matter of fact, yes. I'd say we were about fifty-fifty on that one, as opposed to "Famine, Sword and Fire", where I did most of the work.

SB- Anyone who has heard both releases would definately agree that FSF was the harsher one. What is the story behind "Kill Alan's Dog"?

ST- "Kill Alan's Dog" was a death-metal take-off that we did on "Genital Hopscotch". I did the guitar and Johhny screamed the vocals. There really is an Alan. He is an ex punk-rocker who runs a trendy little bar in Boise. He also has an overpriced boutique next door to the bar that sells raver clothes, hair dye and piercing shit. Alan has a little mongrel Border Collie named "Pepe" that comes up to you and sniffs at you when you sit at the bar. If you try to pet it, it runs off all skittish. Real irritating little mutt. One time, I almost nailed it when I was driving by the bar. The little bastard (Pepe, not Alan) ran in front of my car. I hit the brakes, and Alan grabbed the dog and got back on the sidewalk. Guess I couldn't swerve fast enough to hit it.

SB- Any chance of TVH getting back together?

ST- No chance. I've got a new project going now, and I'm sure Johnny is very busy if he hasn't been deported back to England yet.

SB- Why is it that TVH never performed live?

ST- Performing live is for sellouts. We were never into that rock star crap.

SB- Are you going to release any more TVH stuff that hasn't been out yet?

ST- No. Our only releases are "Genital Hopscotch" and "Famine, Sword and Fire". The original master copy of "Genital Hopscotch" was left in my house on State Street when I moved back east for awhile. I left it on the counter, so I wouldn't forget it. I did. It's history unless you were lucky enough to get it when it was out. "FSF" is still available. I will be releasing the whole album on the web in MP3 format soon.

SB- It's going to be on the TVH website?

ST- There will be a link to it from there. The server that I use at the site doesn't allow MP3s, so I have to find one that does.

SB- The whole album will be online?

ST- Yes, I already have it encoded in MP3 format. It's ready to go.

SB- How is the website going?

ST- I haven't updated it for awhile. Just use it mostly as a contact site, so old friends and fans can get in touch with me.

SB- What is the address, so our readers can check it out?

ST- It's http://tropicstudios.freeservers.com/

SB- Thanks for your time. It's been a pleasure. Good luck with all of your future projects.

ST- Thank you.
